As Program Manager in Tangent, Trinity College Dublin, I oversee the planning and development of a suite of postgraduate courses centring around innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. I have been working with Lucy and Jess, who are widely considered anchor contributors across our courses, since 2019 and have seen first-hand the supportive, engaging, insightful education experience they provide to our students. Learning about innovative methodologies and practices is not an easy task, and students of all capabilities and backgrounds often find it a challenging and uncomfortable process. Lucy and Jess consistently remain cognisant of this potential discomfort and work hard to provide a safe learning space to allow participants to explore new concepts. Without fail we receive excellent feedback for workshops provided by Lucy and Jess, and they masterfully nuance their content depending on the needs of any individual group. From an operational perspective, I thoroughly enjoy engaging with Lucy and Jess, they are responsive and always willing to meet our needs, adapting and pivoting when necessary. I had the pleasure to entrust Lucy with a number of our projects at Animation Skillnet; from conception to delivery and feedback, Lucy was thorough and dedicated to understanding our aims and the needs of the participants. These ranged from recent graduates about to embark on a Traineeship programme to Studio Managers, Directors and Supervisors wishing to adapt and improve their strategy. Her structured and friendly approach was well received by all the groups she facilitated for us and we received glowing feedback at the end of each project. We have worked with Lucy at The Brave Lab to design & deliver a number of courses at Screen Skills Ireland and she has been fantastic to deal with. Lucy took the time to research and understand the Screen industry before delivering any course which meant there was immediate buy in from the participants. In 2020 Soundcloud, like many organisations, recognised that the way we work had changed for good. We knew we wanted to design a new way of working that both reflected evolving employee needs and maintained our unique, vibrant workplace culture. We engaged with The Brave Lab to do some research in this space and make some recommendations for Soundcloud on the best way forward. The recommendations that Jess and Lucy came back with were excellent - innovative, visionary and, most importantly, tailor-made for SoundCloud’s needs. We immediately knew we wanted to work with Brave Lab for the next phase of our project so we worked together to help us design a new working model for Soundcloud and create practical resources and training to aid the transition to this new model. Jess & Lucy are skilled facilitators, who took the time to understand our needs as an organisation and take a holistic approach to designing for the needs of our people and our mission. They encouraged us to stretch outside of our comfort zone, in a way that was actually really fun and enjoyable for all involved! This has resulted in a working model that is unique to the Soundcloud culture, fully supported by our executive team and which we are excited to be rolling out.
